Hi Judith

Thank you so much for your prompt delivery.  It is the best most helpful book I have ever had in my possession.  It is so easy to follow even I (a humble sewer) can manage it.  From now on it will be my bible in the sewing room.  Thank you once again.  Marinela Duque, ACT, Australia

Dear Judith,

I"m so excited, I found my book in the mailbox.  Thank you once again for the prompt service.  I found it to be full of information, answering many of the questions that I had, and easy to read.  The pictures were also very helpful.  I will certainly pass on your website to others.  I wish you all the success for your publication and any of your genie products. Thank you, Shelley Hughes, Victoria, Australia.

Hello Judith - I've only just started learning to sew and all the other books I've bought (five) give very little of the information I require.  Your book, however, is exactly what I need.  At one time I despaired of finding such a book. In fact, I recently went to my local sewing accessories shop and asked them if there existed a book specifically on clothing alterations.  I was told that there was no such a book, but they could put me in touch with a sewing class, adding that I would be the only man there.  Fortunately, I have access to the internet at work. Thanks to your great book there will be no need for me to attend sewing classes.  And the next time I go to my sewing accessories shop I will tell the lady there that such a book exists and that it has been written by Judith aka genie. Kind regards Leo

Dear Judith, Much to my surprise, I opened my mailbox yesterday (July 30) and there it was!  I haven't gotten to much read yet, and I'm soi excited that it makes it harder to read...LOL.  I started a sewing business out of my home here in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, and found that I needed a reference source for when I get stumped with client requests.  As you promised, this is the only reference book out there!  I'll keep you posted.... But so far, I'm thrilled. Sincerely yours, Paul Michael, www.sewwhatftl.com  and This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

As requested, I'm letting you know that my book arrived safely yesterday, 21 July.  I'd also like to let you know that using the extract of your book about sleeve shortening which was in the recent issue of Australian Stitches Magazine, I successfully shortened the sleeves of lined jacket belonging to my mother.  Regards, Lynn Matarese,  Ashfield, NSW. Australia

Just to let you know your book has arrived here in Leeds, England safely.  I sent for the book for my sister who is an amateur dressmaker.  She asked me to let you know that she is thrilled with the book.  She says it's so helpful (and she's only halfway through reading it!) it's absolutely fantastic.  She doesn't know how she managed without it.  With Best Wishes Susan Myers (9th July 2008)

I received the book & am finding it very helpful already.  I may have some questions in future but as of now the directions are very explicit.  Thank you for writing this book.  There is a dirth of knowledge in written form in this area of sewing.  The illustrations are wonderful.

I received my book in the post, and I have just quickly scanned thru and already I can see that this is the book I dreamt to have.  Its so detailed and I just cant wait to start alterations.  I also find the "language" you use in the book is precisely how I need things explained to me.  So well done you, on writing and illustrating this great book and I will be recommending.  Have a great day and thank you for speedy service and wonderful book.

I have been searching for many years to find a book on clothing alterations, and all I could find were books on Basic sewing, which doesn't teach a lot on alterations.

Received your book today November 26th.  Just looking through it I can see why it took nine years to write it.  The graphics are just beautiful and how you explain the workings of the alterationg is great.  Thank you for all you have done for me and I know I will enjoy sewing much more than I have in the past.

Pat, NC, U.S.A.

When do you think I can expect to receive the book?  I am excited about starting up a home business doing clothing alterations.  I feel there will be a need to repair clothing and purchase good quality clothing and take care of it.  I feel I will be making a difference with this business.  Thank you for making this book.  I have scoured the internet and there are no other books like yours.

Clothing Alterations just got easier...Book Illustration

The world's first "Step by Step" Clothing Alteration Book.

Read on to see Bonus offer and how to receive Table of Contents

My technique for pinning, preparing and sewing is simple and easy to follow.

The taking up and taking in technique means you will achieve the correct fit every time.

How about replacing a jean zip?  There are twenty one (yes 21) illustrations on how to replace a jeans zip.......  how to unpick - to putting the new zip in.  I take between 20 to 25 minutes to replace a jean zip (professionally). You can too.

All the alterations in this book can be done on your trusty domestic sewing machine.  And your domestic sewing machine can create a professional jeans hem finish.  It's all in the technique.  You don't need to use the thick thread to create a professional jeans hem finish.

You will become the professional with Genie Clothing Alteration Secrets Revealed.

The book "Clothing Alteration Secrets Revealed" is centered on a technique the I developed in my clothing alteration shops.  I wanted to offer a 100% guarantee to my customers on the workmanship.  That is a very strong guarantee, and one which created loyalty from customers.  What it required was a technique that could be followed by all staff, so that everyone was on the same page.
The step by step procedures and illustrations make the process easy to follow, and now mothers can pass on these necessary skills to their daughters or grand daughters, sons or grandsons. What a great gift idea for your daughter or son......  This book will stay in the family for generations.

There are sections on Dresses, skirts, shirts, gowns, jackets and tops.
I grew up with imperial measurement, and even though Australia changed to metric I have included both because countries like the United States is still on imperial. Personally I find imperial easier to use, so I have provided you with an explaination of metric and imperial.  Illustrations are also in both metric and imperial.

There is a wonderful bonus with the hard copy book.  It's called the Jean Genie.  This little device teaches you how to mark and cut a jean hem, and is then folded to become a valuable tool in sewing over the thick side seams on jeans, thereby creating a professional jeans hem.  All you need is your trusty domestic sewing machine - no industrial sewing machines necessary.

Bonus offer - Free DVD valued at $9.95 with every book purchased.  This DVD shows you the magic of the Jean Genie.  You will be sewing professional jeans hems on your domestic sewing machine with this wonderful invention.

The book has 236 pages which are two columns wide, 400 illustrations and is spiral bound so the book can lay flat for easy handling.
